Albion will target their second home win of the season against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Albion play their final home game of the WSL campaign on Saturday when we take on Aston Villa at Broadfield Stadium, kick off 1pm.

Albion will be looking for only their second home win of the season. In contrast, Villa have won five times on the road.

Mikey Harris's view

Interim head coach Mikey Harris said, “Fitness-wise we're waiting on a few players. Julia Zigiotti and Elisabeth Terland had to come off at Spurs last week and they haven't trained. We will review them today along with a couple of others but unfortunately I am expecting to be missing a few players.

Harris's Villa press conference

"When someone misses a game it always provides an opportunity for other players. The message from me has always been 'we're all in this together.' I trust everyone who sets foot on the pitch for us and that includes the academy players in the squad. Everyone is committed to finishing the season as strongly as we can and I'm really confident that whoever is selected tomorrow will put in a performance.

"There's a huge responsibility to improve our home form. We've spoken about the importance of finishing our home season on a high because it will give us momentum and belief going into next season."

WSL Highlights: Aston Villa 1 Brighton 0

Albion were beaten 1-0 by a Villa side who finished the game with ten players back in December. Elisabeth Terland had our best chance but hit the woodwork.

Player to watch

Former England international Jordan Nobbs loves scoring against Albion. The midfielder has seven against us, only netting more often versus Merseyside clubs Liverpool (10) and Everton (8) in the competition.

By Aston Villa FC
Jordan Nobbs scored a hat-trick on her last visit to the Broadfield Stadium.

That haul includes a hat-trick for Villa in this fixture last season. Nobbs, 31, joined Villa after a stellar 13-year career with Arsenal, for whom she made more than 200 appearances between 2010-23. Nobbs played 71 times for England, scoring eight goals.

Stats and facts

Albion have lost each of their three WSL home games against Aston Villa by an aggregate score of 9-2.

Aston Villa have won each of their last two meetings with Albion in the Women's Super League, including a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture in December; the Seagulls would be the only side to suffer a league double to the Villans this term.

Albion have lost each of their last four home league games, including all three under Mikey Harris; Brighton haven't lost more in a row in the WSL since a run of five January 2021 under Hope Powell.

Since the beginning of last season, Aston Villa have won 12 away games in the Women's Super League (02 L7) with only Manchester City (15), Chelsea (14*) and Manchester United (14) picking up more victories on the road in that period.

Albion are winless across their last seven WSL games played on a Saturday (02 LS) with four different managers trying and failing to pick up three points in such games since a 1-0 win over Aston Villa in March 2022 (Powell L2, Scheuer 01, Merricks L 1, Phillips 01 L2).

Aston Villa lost their first three WSL games played on a Saturday this season by an aggregate score of 12-3 but are unbeaten in three such games so far in 2024 (Wl 02), scoring exactly twice in each of those matches.

Albion have only won one of their previous five final home games of a WSL season (01 L3), beating Bristol City 3-1 in May 2021.

This will be the first time Aston Villa's final away game of a WSL season hasn't come against Arsenal, drawing 0-0 with the Gunners in 2020-21, losing 7-0 in 2021-22 and winning 2-0 last season.

Elisabeth Terland has scored 13 goals in the WSL this season and in the competition's history only two players have netted more in a single campaign for a team other than Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City: Rachel Daly in 2022-23 for Aston Villa (22) and Ellen White in 2017-18 for Birmingham City (15).
