Pascal Gross is the perfect role model, according to Jack Hinshelwood.

Jack Hinshelwood has said he couldn’t ask for a better role model in the Albion dressing room than Pascal Gross.

The Germany international has made 261 appearances for Albion, with his creativity and versatility key to his success with the club since he joined us in 2017.

“Pascal is so versatile and he's unbelievable in every position that he plays,” Hinshelwood said. “I definitely think we saw that last year when the gaffer stuck him at right back.

Jack scored three Premier League goals in 12 appearances.

“He's someone I've looked up to because the way he can play in different positions. That's something that I've tried to add to my game and there’s nobody better to learn from than him."

Jack had to demonstrate his own versatility when he was called into the first team. Having been a midfielder during his time in our academy he became a regular at right-back during his breakthrough season.

The youngster was supported by the senior players in the squad when he made the transition into the first-team environment, which he says took the pressure off when he was on the pitch.

“I don't think there's many better places to be in the Premier League as a young player right now. If you're looking for an opportunity I think it's a great place to be because you've got the senior boys - Gross, Welbeck, Milner, Dunk - who are brilliant.

“They're so good at welcoming you in. You never feel under pressure, they just want you to do your best. This club wouldn't be able to produce as many young talent as it does without those senior players offering such good advice.”
